Homesteading isn't just for sprawling properties in the country; in fact, we began our homesteading journey while living on Harbert Avenue in Central Gardens, Midtown for 7 years. Chickens, rabbits, a garden, an annual farm-purchased hog, and deer hunting were part of our journey toward self-sufficiency while living in an urban environment.

If you are producing a product to sell - soaps, veggies, or honey living within the city puts you in the center of your market audience - a luxury that rural farms rarely have. While not common, there are opportunities to live on larger urban or suburban lots that may afford the possibility of livestock, horses, and many of the amenities traditionally associated with a full-scale homestead or farm.

Some of the possibilities in an urban environment include: honey bees, chickens, dairy goats, rabbits, gardening, fruit trees, edible landscaping, flower gardening, agritourism. We are here to help you confidently achieve your homesteading dreams in Memphis, TN while navigating the balance between city ordinances, neighbors, and your property.
